Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund recruits five more sponsors

Music show ‘A glory road’ to raise funds for Vu A Dinh Fund

 

Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund on Tuesday signed up five more sponsors and now has a total of 17 groups helping the nation’s ethnic minority youth.

 

‘Understanding of the Heart’ will donate scholarships and nutritional food for poor ethnic students worth VND600 million for one year. Di Duc Real Estate Company will build a bridge in Lam Dong Province and a school in the Mekong Delta worth over VND2 billion in total.

 

AAA Life Insurance Company will build a school worth VND1.2 billion for mountainous children while Duy Tan High School in HCMC’s District 10 will raise and educate 10 ethnic children from grades 6 to 12 at a cost of about VND5 billion. Dinh Thien Ly High School will receive four students and give them about VND100 million each a year for living and schooling costs until they graduate for grade 12.

 

Truong My Hoa, chairwoman of the fund, said “Since it opened in 1999, together with its partners, Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has provided 30,000 scholarships and built many schools for ethnic students over the past eleven years. Now with more sponsors, we will develop more programs and will raise more money for scholarships.”

 

“This is meaningful action not only for poor children but also for the country’s development,” she added.

 

The scholarship fund calls for donations from local and foreign benefactors and enterprises to support ethnic minority students in poor and remote areas in their education and to develop human resources for young people in ethnic-minority regions. All donations to the fund can be sent to account 102010001063051, Vietinbank, Branch District 3 in HCMC.

 

 *Con duong vinh quang (A glory road) will take place at HCMC Opera House, 7 Lam Son Square in HCMC’s District 1 at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night.

 

The music program, organized by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, Thieu nien Tien Phong newspaper and the International Media Company Limited, aims to raise money for the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund.

 

Sponsorship for the night comes from Building Materials and Construction Co. (BMC), Vissan Company, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, Vu Anh International Hospital, Minh Thanh Group, Van Thinh Phat Investment Corp., Rex Hotel Saigon and Saigon Pure Water Company (Sapuwa).

 

The night will see performances by many Vietnamese artists such as My Linh, Hien Thuc, Trang Nhung, Nam Khanh and bands such as ABC, Rex, Tuoi Hong and Sido.

 

On the night, the organizers will give Vi A Dinh awards to ten individuals or groups who have shown outstanding devotion to ethnic minority groups of mountainous regions. The awards are worth VND5 million for individuals and VND10 million to groups.

 

Also 100 ethnic students will be given Vu A Dinh scholarships worth VND1 million each for the school year of 2011-2012.
