SAPUWA visits SOS Children Village

Established in 1990, located in Quarter 1, Quang Trung St, Ward 12, Go Vap Dist – SOS Children Village is the place that hundreds of orphan and outcast children is helped and resided… Every child has his own situation but all of them are emotionally deprived and nurse complex and sorrow – that is the only similar thing among them.

HCMc SOS Children Village has 20 family-houses with the biggest scale in Vietnam and the 3rd one in Asia. There are 8-10 children in a family-house that are brought up and cared by one mother – a woman devotes her life spontaneously for this work. Whenever children become adult or are apprenticed, have stable job, the village carries out surveys of receiving more children to family-house.

At present, 256 unfortunate children of HCMc and neighboring provinces are being brought up in SOS Children Village. Due to the protection and love of mothers and SOS staffs, these children have been taken care of health, education, vocational education and job to stabilize life and integrate community, become helpful persons to social. In 2007-2008, many children study well and have good moral, 100% of 15 pupils passed high-school finals , especially 03 passed the exam of university, 05 ones passed the exam of college and 07 ones passed the exam of vocational school. Other children are obedient and try to overcome the unfortunate destiny to success in life.

Since the price rises up, with the sponsor of SOS International Organization, there only have 275.000 VND/month for a child that is equivalent to 9.100 VND/day/child for meals. This allocation is too difficult to satisfy the minimum nutrition demand for 172 children who begins the new school year 2008-2009, how about schoolbooks, notebooks, schoolbags…?

Performing the “For children, for common and social interests” program in accordance with the “Human culture” of character Sapuwa tradition, in August 26th 2008, the Director Board and Red Cross branch of Sapuwa have visited and supported Sapuwa pure water, 700 notebooks and 700 pens for children of village that contributes to care and help them to have the physical and spiritual joy, the hope in life.

In conclusion, we would like to repeat the desire of mothers in SOS village – as well as of whole Sapuwa’s staffs – “Hope that in future with general advancing impetus, social evils will be eliminated, the poverty will be rolled back, awareness of responsibility shall be heightened…At that time, there’s no orphan, no unfortunate destiny and – Of course – SOS village shall be “closed” and children growing from here, with the support of benefactors shall step steadily in life, become helpful citizens of country.
