Terry Fox lived in province of British Columbia on the west coast of Canada, near Vancouver. He was an active teenage and often paticipated in sports games. Unfortunatedly, Terry was diagnosed to have bone cancer when he was only 18, he was forced to cut almost of his right leg in 1977.

During his treatment in the hospital, he has experienced and felt the pains of other cancer patients, including many kids, Terry decided to run through Canada to raise fund for cancer treatment research. He called his journey is Marathon of Hope.

Terry Fox has run nearly 42km per day starting from the east coast of Canada, cross Quebec, to Ontario. However, after 143 days and 5373 km, Terry’s forced to stop when he nearly reached Thunder bay, Ontario because the cancer disease came back.

He passed away in Jun 8th 1981, at 22, but his spirit to fight with cancer still lives forever.

The most valuable heritage of Terry Fox is the Terry Fox Run – it is non-competitive race, everybody joins in private, family, team or group to raise fund for the cancer research under his name – Terry Fox, to continue his dream to find out a cure for cancer.
